Reflecting with Paul Costelloe

Reflecting with Paul Costelloe

With the disruption of the global pandemic, London Fashion Week designers have primarily turned to digital presentations and virtual catwalks with #LFWRESET, the industry has been rocked to its very core. Yet for Paul Costelloe this was an occasion to return to more intimate and placid settings.

Rooted in the fashion culture for the last 50 years, the Irish-American designer embraced the enforcement of limited crowds, space and serenity that does not usually accompany LFW’s chaos. As being one of the few (and most iconic) British designers, who decided to physically display their latest SS21 collection, Costelloe appreciated every single individual who walked through the golden doors of the Waldorf Hilton Hotel.

Getting close and personal (while still maintaining social distancing), Paul sat in the middle of the bright hall drawing sketches of his latest collection for attendees to take home with them as memorabilia. Surrounded by pattern cuttings, sewing machines and fabric samples; the interior of the Waldorf hall transformed into Paul’s personal studio space.

Costelloe’s latest SS21 collection, entitled ‘Golden Reflections’, is a true ray of hope for the post-pandemic world with “spirit of optimism and new beginnings”. His iconic linen tailored jackets embodied the presence of summer blooms in delicate daffodil prints, soft creams, and Mediterranean blues, particularly when paired with a slouch trouser and an oversized metallic bag.

“This is the perfect collection to fly a kite and dream” said Paul Costelloe

The warmth and kindness of the designer is materialised in the glow of the line’s earthly palette; with burnt umbers, indigo ferns, and taupe stripes – the collection creates an “ideal summer adventure”.

The ‘Golden Reflections’ seven-minute film is now available to view on the designer’s website at: www.paulcostelloe.com/
